She is Cuba. If you want to love her, you have to be with her, but you can't be with her in her current state. It's the point of view of all exiles — You have to leave the thing you cherish most.
— Andy Garcia
We are a Cuban and Aviation memorabilia company based out of Miami with a fondness for collectibles from the 1800s to the late 1950s, BC (Before Castro). We wish to influence new lovers of aeronautics along with excite seasoned collectors of Cuban mementos. Our passion is best reflected most in our book “En Alas Cubanas”, which has been happily sold out but is being republished soon. CUBA AEREO is a Miami based company dealing in Cuban airline memorabilia from the 40's and 50's. It is the creation of Jorge and Diana Rodriguez. Jorge's father was Captain Alberto Rodriguez Perez, Cubana Airlines pilot for twenty years, who in 1962 landed a Viscount in Nassau and left it there. When months passed and he could not get a visa to the U.S., he made friends with the local aircraft school and took a training plane, without radio, radar or anything else, and landed in Miami International Airport. Jorge has been in the US since 1961 and has never gone back to Cuba. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
Diana is the daughter of Brigadier General Hernando Hernandez Hernandez, Chief of Police in Havana from 1956 to 1958, who died in Castro's prison in January 1968 after 9 years of imprisonment. Diana came to Miami in July 1959 and has never gone back to Cuba.
CUBA AEREO, therefore, has no connections whatsoever with Castro's oppressive regime!
Man must rise above the Earth — to the top of the atmosphere and beyond — for only thus will he fully understand the world in which he lives.
